New Delhi, Nov 8 (UNI) The government today announced that the Winter Session of Parliament will be held from December 1 to December 19, 2025, marking the final legislative session of the calendar year. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed the dates on social media platform X, stating that President Droupadi Murmu has approved the government’s proposal for the session.
“The President of India, Droupadi Murmu ji has approved the proposal of the Government to convene the Winter Session of Parliament from 1st December 2025 to 19th December, 2025 (subject to exigencies of Parliamentary business),” Rijiju said. He added, “Looking forward to a constructive & meaningful Session that strengthens our democracy & serves the aspirations of the people.”
The session, slated for 15 sittings, will focus on key legislative business, including major bills such as the Government of union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2025, Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and the Constitution (One Hundred and Thirtieth Amendment) Bill, 2025. Other important legislations like the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill will also be on the agenda.
This announcement comes on the heels of a turbulent Monsoon Session that ended on August 21 amid persistent disruptions and protests, particularly over Bihar’s electoral roll revision. Despite the chaos, the Lok Sabha managed 37 hours of productive work, falling short of the intended 120 hours.
As the nation prepares for the Winter Session, all eyes are on Parliament’s ability to rise above political differences and fulfill legislative commitments. With a packed agenda and heightened political tensions, this session promises to be a critical test for India’s democracy in action.
